As we gear up for March Fitness 2025, we've compiled answers to the most frequently asked questions about workout logging, scoring, and participation. This guide will help you navigate the challenge with confidence.
Workout Logging and Categories
Running and Cardio
Q: Is treadmill running cardio or running?
A: This year, treadmill runs should count for cardio. Only outdoor running and walking is scored for mileage.
Q: How should I log walking?
A: You should log walking under mileage not cardio.
Sports and Activities
Q: Does golfing count as a workout?
A: If you walk the course you may count the walking mileage as running. Please also make sure to count your drinks.
Q: Does skiing count for points?
A: Yes, skiing counts for points but does not extend your streak. If you are skiing, you also need to do something in addition to get streak-eligible points.
Q: Why doesn't skiing extend your streak?
A: We review it annually, but it has never received the votes.
Q: How should I log hockey, padel, tennis, boxing, basketball (other cardio sport), etc.?
A: It depends on your heart rate but likely high intensity cardio (>70% of MHR) making sure to subtract any longer breaks or bench time.
Q: How should I log outdoor cycling?
A: Outdoor cycling is its own category and is logged based on mileage.
Special Workouts and Points
Q: For special workouts, do I give myself cardio points and the special points?
A: No, you should only give yourself cardio credit if the special specifically dictates it. Marathon-equivalence should have mileage/time points plus the special bonus. Other special workouts should only have the special points.
Technical and Platform Questions
Q: When do I have to log my workout?
A: You should log your workout the same day that a workout is completed before midnight.
Q: What is the cutoff time for logging workouts?
A: Midnight local time!
Q: My strava added a workout incorrectly. What should I do?
A: The easiest thing to do would be to delete the workout on march.fit and manually add a corrected workout.
Q: My strava added skiing as a cardio workout?
A: Please remove this workout and count skiing as bonus points only.
Q: I paid but it still says that I didn't.
A: The payment reconciliation is a manual match, so there may be a delay. Please email the audit committee if your payment is not reconciled within 24 hours.
Streaks and Competition
Q: What are the rules for keeping a streak?
A: You need to score a minimum of 10 streak-eligible points. Note that negative points for drinks and overindulgence count against you and skiing does not count towards the 10-points. Beware of the Jordy bank effect - a small workout with a big night out.
Q: My partner week partner has zero points so far. What the heck?
A: What you're experiencing is a classic week 2 phenomenon! We pair 1st place with last place, 2nd place with second to last, etc. The people on the leaderboard have paid their fee but for one reason or another haven't been able to or remembered to log workouts (life happens / distractions / etc). We can introduce you via email to spur them to action. Let us know!
Q: I hate the person hunting me. Why won't they leave me alone?!
A: Remember, hate is not the opposite of love - indifference is. How is that person making you better? What can you learn from them? Have you considered that this person has a family, responsibilities, and hopes and dreams of their own? In this beautiful circle of life, the hunter may find herself being hunted. Namaste.
Disputes and Auditing
Q: I don't agree with how a workout was logged.
A: Please flag the workout to audit committee using the flag icon in the bottom-right corner of each activity tile. Flagging is anonymous and will be addressed in a target response time of 48 hours.
